It’s a peculiar thing, but most
writers would rather create an 800-word column about the
contestants on American Idol than write a personal bio.
I think it’s the knowing thing. Sure, I could say I’m
a weekly columnist for The Davison Flagstaff and a monthly
columnist for The Flint Journal. I could tell you that
my biggest writing “woo-hoo!” was getting a “My Turn” in the
December 4 issue of Newsweek, but would you really know me.
No.
So never mind all that. This is who I
really am:
I wake up every morning to voices.
(Play spooky music here.) I recently woke up to the
word “furious” and was considering its many forms (fury,
furiousness, furiously). My first words of the day to
my husband were, “Is furor a word?”
“Uh, yeah. I think so,” he said.
“Why … what are you thinking of writing now?”
I’m a carpe diem kinda girl who is inspired
by:
-
Pachelbel’s “Canon in D”
-
Running in the rain
-
A strong cup of coffee
-
Columns by Anna Quindlen
-
My children’s laughter
-
An amazing book
-
My soulmate, Brad
Like most people, I have many titles.
I’m a believer, a wife, a mommy, a teacher and a friend to a
whole bunch of certifiable crazies. Without them, my
life would be poop and I’d have absolutely nothing
worthwhile to say.
